Tai Po generally refers to Tai Po Old Market, the area of the traditional market towns; Tai Wo Town and Tai Po New Town. In the past, Tai Po is a simple village town. It has been transformed into a modern town after decades of development. It is still preserving its historical relics and charming countryside scenery.
Tai Po comprises mainly public housing estates and over 100 villages scattered across the district. Low-rises and exclusive townhouses have been built behind Tolo Highway to enjoy the water views offered by Tolo Harbour. Tai Mei Tuk, a place close to Plover Cover Reservoir, has become a new area for developers to build luxury townhouses, touting its water views and good Feng Shui setting.
